If only courage can be converted to dollars, I’d probably be a millionaire by now.
What many people lack, I seem to have. Am I one of the lucky few? Perhaps. But it’s not a hidden skill or talent, but rather, the life choices that we all make in our lives.
It’s about being comfortable with your choices, being comfortable with who you are, and knowing your own strengths and weaknesses.
I choose to have a different life, a life of travel, because I prefer to live life on the edge over stability and security. I may not have the money to go around the world but I have the courage to create the life that I want so I can live the life that I love.
Madness, I know.
I choose to live a life of travel because I don’t want any other life. I want to share my stories and hopefully, inspire even just one human being to live the best possible life that he or she can ever imagine.
We all have the power to create our own realities. We all have the capability to create the life that we want for ourselves. But, more often than not, majority of us chooses to stick to the norm, to play it safe and retire in our comfort zones.
Why? Because of fear. Fear of the unknown.
And that, I believe, is what creates the gap between the life that you have now and the life that you truly want for yourself.
My story
9 months ago, I hit rock bottom. I got my heart broken, no job, in a financial rut, jaded, lost and clueless. But rather than sinking into depression, I pulled my shit together and started re-organizing my life.
I took it as a chance to have a clean slate, a fresh start, in life and promised myself that I will turn my life around.
Those 9 months haven’t been easy. I did look for escape routes, thinking I could run away from my so-called life then but Universe cornered me against a wall, and there was absolutely no way out but through.
Every single damn day, I strive to be better and to do better no matter how small the effort is. Because truth is, I had to be my own goddamn hero.
And it paid off.
In those 9 months, I was able to pay off 50% of all my debts, managed to launch this blog and run my online business. And best of all, I was able to travel to 2 international destinations and 5 local destinations. For someone who’s broke, that’s hard to believe but I did it all.
Looking back, I have nothing but gratitude despite everything that happened because I have proven to myself yet again that I can bounce back. More importantly, I have faith that Universe is always conspiring with me.
Had I let fear consume me, I wouldn’t be here now sharing with you my story.
9 months ago, I didn’t have anything but COURAGE. And that was more than enough.
Courage to wake up each day and work hard, courage to trust the unknown, and courage to relinquish all control and let Universe work its magic.
Where do I go from here?
At the end of the year, I will start traveling again. I will be off to Hong Kong to spend New Year’s with my family and from there, I will find my way down to Southeast Asia. To sustain this travel lifestyle, I have my online job and online business still running. Also, I will be doing a lot of volunteer work but mostly with non-profit organizations.
My aim is to travel slow and to travel with a purpose. I want my travel stories to not just be about adventures but also how I was able to touch people’s lives in my own little ways.
I am not money-rich, but I am fueled with courage.
As I end this post, I want to share with you this video that made all the difference in my life. I hope it will have the same effect on you.
Thank you for stopping by!
