We all know that life never goes according to plan no matter how much we prepare for it. Shit will always happen and unforeseen events will make its way into our lives.
However, it’s also human nature to try to control the outcome of everything. We calculate risks, go with the lesser evil, and stay on the safe side to minimize catastrophe.
What people fail to realize is, Universe always has its ways of testing people. Just when you think you had it all figured out, your life will suddenly take a sharp turn to the unknown, catching you off guard. And your normal reaction? Panic and anxiety.
We feel anxious when situations disrupt our normal lives so we take matters into our hands. We always complicate things by trying to control everything. But that’s not how it should be.
We all have to realize that everything is temporary. Just like the wind, everything comes and goes. When shit happens, we should just let it pass and learn everything from it. No matter how hard we look for answers or shortcuts, or an exit strategy, we won’t find any. Why? Because we are meant to go through difficult situations and deal with challenges head on.
There won’t always be an easy way out and sometimes, the only way out is through.
6 months ago, I found myself hitting rock bottom. I was lost, jaded, broke and perfectly clueless about what to do with my life. Just like any normal human being, I tried hard to look for an escape route. I was desperate to travel again because I thought it would make me forget and help me find myself again but I couldn’t because I didn’t have any money.
I didn’t have a job for crying out loud! And worse, I have financial obligations that were already haunting me. So safe to say that yes, I was in deep shit.
Two things I’ve been telling myself over the years — sometimes you have to be your own superhero and only you can help yourself. And that’s exactly what I did. I snapped out of depression mode and pulled my shit together.

The past 6 months were tough and painful but it definitely transformed me into another version of myself. I learned so much about myself, about loving myself first, and finding happiness within. I have proven to myself, yet again, that I can bounce back from a difficult situation and make the best out of it. I opened my mind to what this situation was teaching me and let it transform me.
Sometimes, it’s hard to see how life challenges can be blessings in disguise but if you open your mind and heart, you will be surprised to see how much you have grown every time you overcome tough challenges.
Hard truth is, difficult situations happen so we can learn. We are forced out of our comfort zones so we can have more room to grow. And people come and go into our lives to teach us something valuable about ourselves and about life.
Imagine, how can we grow if everything goes according to plan? If we always have it easy, or we never have failures and disappointments in life, what kind of life would that be?
I’m not saying that we look for trouble just for kicks or to make our lives more interesting. What I want you to realize is that life is so much better on the other side of fear, failures, worries and regrets.
So the next time you find yourself in a challenging situation, rather than complain or run away from it, thank Universe because it’s meant to teach you something. And know that the most important life lessons come from failures and hardships.
Open your mind, embrace life’s challenges and let it transform you to the best version of yourself yet — a stronger, wiser, and more compassionate you.
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. — Confucius
