How I Plan to Have A Million Dollars by the Time I Turn 40

million

As I was drinking wine straight from the bottle and browsing through Pinterest, another thought just hit me — I want to have a million dollars by the time I’m 40!

Seems like an insurmountable goal, right? Not really, only if you see it more as a challenge than a goal to achieve.

When I look at my current situation, this goal seems so far-fetched! Even if I don’t spend a penny and save every income, I still won’t reach one million dollars. And to make things more difficult, I am already 34 years old, which gives me 6 years to accomplish this goal.

That means I have to have an annual income of $200,000, or $17,000 in monthly income.

Insanity got the best of me, one might think. But for whatever reason, I can actually visualize this happening. You know what they say, your only limit is yourself. So, if you learn how to become limitless, if you capitalize on your strengths and work around your weaknesses, and if you learn to take calculated risks and face your fears, then everything is possible. Everything, I tell you.

What’s my action plan? Doing these 3 things:

1) Have multiple streams of income

Having multiple streams of income is a must if you want to strive for financial independence. One income is not enough, which is why you need a second and third income for savings and investment.

All successful entrepreneurs and financially independent individuals will tell you the exact same thing. I cannot stress enough the importance of having multiple streams of income. I wish I have started earlier but I can’t take back time and all I can do now is learn from experience and be smarter with my life choices and my finances. Know that it is never too late to be a financial literate.

And if you must, teach your kids about financial literacy because that is something they won’t get from school, and it will also give them a good start in achieving financial independence.

2) Re-brand my online business and build a successful clothing and lifestyle brand

I honestly believe that my online business, One for Humanity, has huge potential. The business model is good, and the vision I have for this brand is rock solid. What I need is the right execution and focus, which would lead to a breakthrough.

For a time, I almost considered shutting down this business but when I finally decided to do so, orders came flooding in. I guess it’s Universe way of telling me that I shouldn’t give up easily and that I am on the right track. I just need to focus more and continue with strategic planning.

3) Turn this blog into an income-generating platform

I’ve read so many blogging income reports that are inspiring to say the least. The most successful bloggers earn more than a $100,000 each month from blogging. Crazy, right?

It can be daunting but take it as a challenge. Just think of it this way — if they can do it, there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t.

But wait, before you get too excited about blogging, know that it is not a walk in the park. It is time consuming and requires a lot of hard work especially in the beginning. Certain sacrifices have to be made (i.e. sleeping hours, social life, etc.) and goals have to be in place to be successful in blogging.

Connecting with other bloggers and your chosen niche is also an important factor. And not to mention, social media marketing is nothing but a necessity. Because writing quality content is just half of the blogging story.

An income-generating blog can also turn into a passive income, allowing you to earn money while you sleep or while you travel the world. Now, ain’t that motivation enough? Hell yes!

The thought of it excites me to the highest level. It’s not just about having tons of money. It’s more about being financially independent, striving for early retirement, and having a comfortable travel lifestyle.

Also, with this kind of money, I will be able to start my own nonprofit organization with the focus on promoting literacy, HIV awareness, and conserving the environment.

I have big dreams and impossible goals but isn’t that what life is all about? Challenging ourselves to achieve the impossible and believe that everything is possible!

At the end of the day, it’s all about having the right mindset.

For the great perhaps and grander maybes, for all of life’s uncertainties, for a dream that only you can see, may we all have the courage to follow our hearts, to dream big and make things happen despite all the challenges and road blocks that Universe has in store for us.

So, rise, have courage and take the challenge. Guaranteed, it will make your life worth living.

Cheers to a crazy beautiful life!
